How to Enter

To help you secure a role as a Contact Engineer in New Zealand, it’s recommended to complete a relevant graduate qualification, such as a Bachelor of Engineering or Quantity Surveying. Previous experience in Procurement, Surveying and Administration will also be beneficial.


Typical Responsibilities

The typical job responsibilities of a Contract Engineer can include any of the following:


  • Reviewing, negotiating and amending bid contracts with clients
  • Drafting contractual documentation including the terms of service
  • Adjusting existing contracts as required
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, customers, and suppliers
  • Monitoring supplier performance and service-levels
  • Providing contractual and procurement assistance to the rest of the business
  • Ensuring all contracts and bids are complaint with legislation and regulations


Progression

With training and experience, many Contract Engineers can choose to progress their careers further in commercial procurement by securing the role of Senior Contracts Engineer, Lead Contracts Engineer, Contracts Manager or Commercial Manager. In addition, they can also decide to move to other industries such as Construction, Civil Engineering or Manufacturing.


Salary Range

45K – 80K per annum (NZD)
