Civil Construction Manager Jobs

A Civil Construction Manager in Australia oversees the planning, execution, and completion of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, by managing subcontractors, coordinating resources, and maintaining adherence to safety regulations and building codes throughout the construction process. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments to effectively manage the construction project from start to finish. 
  • Monitor daily construction activities on-site, ensuring work is carried out according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. 
  • Procure and manage subcontractors, including negotiating contracts, reviewing their work performance, and resolving any issues that arise. 
  • Track project expenditures against the budget, identifying potential cost overruns and implementing corrective actions to maintain financial viability. 
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the construction work meets required standards and specifications. 
  • Prioritize workplace safety, enforce safety regulations, and conduct regular safety inspections to prevent accidents. 
  • Maintain open communication with clients, engineers, architects, local authorities, and other stakeholders to keep them informed of project progress and address any concerns. 
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant building codes, environmental regulations, and legal requirements. 
  • Possess a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and relevant technical specifications for civil infrastructure projects. 


Typical tasks may include:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Coordinating the delivery of materials and equipment to the site
  • Managing site logistics and traffic flow
  • Conducting progress meetings with subcontractors and project team members
  • Reviewing and approving invoices and change orders
  • Investigating and resolving construction issues and delays
  • Preparing project reports and documentation 


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Relevant construction management experience, preferably in civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Understanding of local building codes and regulations
