Civil Project Manager Jobs
A Civil Project Manager in Australia is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale civil construction projects, including managing budgets, timelines, teams, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards, while adhering to all relevant regulations and safety protocols; typically requiring a strong background in civil engineering and significant experience in the construction industry.
Key responsibilities:
Project Planning:
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope of work, timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimations.
- Review site surveys, design plans, and assess potential risks.
- Coordinate with stakeholders including clients, engineers, architects, and government authorities.
Team Management:
- Assemble and lead a project team comprising engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and other personnel.
- Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide necessary training and support.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration within the team.
Construction Oversight:
- Monitor project progress against the plan, identifying potential delays and taking corrective action.
- Inspect construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Manage subcontractor contracts, ensuring timely delivery and performance.
Budget Control:
- Track project expenditures against the budget, identifying cost variances and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors and suppliers.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the project, including environmental, safety, and legal concerns.
- Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen issues.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Generate regular progress reports for clients and stakeholders detailing project status, achievements, and challenges.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including drawings, specifications, and meeting minutes.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Relevant professional registration (e.g., with the Engineers Australia)
- Extensive experience in civil construction project management
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, regulations, and safety standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in project management software
