I&E Engineer Jobs
An I&E Engineer in Australia, also known as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer, is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems within industrial settings, ensuring optimal operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations, often working across the lifecycle of a project from design to commissioning and maintenance.
Key responsibilities of an I&E Engineer in Australia may include:
Design and Engineering:
- Developing detailed design specifications for electrical and instrumentation systems, including selecting appropriate equipment and components.
- Creating electrical schematics and loop diagrams for control systems.
- Performing calculations for power requirements, cable sizing, and control system parameters.
Installation and Commissioning:
- Overseeing the installation of electrical and instrumentation equipment on-site, ensuring proper wiring and connections.
- Performing functional testing and calibration of instruments and control systems to ensure accurate operation.
- Coordinating with other disciplines like mechanical and process engineers during commissioning activities.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Identifying and resolving faults within electrical and instrumentation systems through troubleshooting techniques.
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks to ensure system reliability and longevity.
- Managing spare parts inventory and coordinating repairs with vendors.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensuring all electrical and instrumentation systems adhere to relevant Australian safety standards and regulations.
- Implementing safety procedures during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
Project Management:
- Contributing to project planning, scheduling, and budget management for I&E related tasks.
- Collaborating with project teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, control systems, and instrumentation technologies
- Proficiency in relevant software like AutoCAD, EPLAN, and PLC programming
- Experience with industrial automation systems and fieldbus networks
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Familiarity with Australian electrical safety standards and regulations
