Line Mechanic Jobs

Key responsibilities of a Line Mechanic in Australia:

  • Installing conductors, aerial equipment, underground cables, and associated hardware on power lines.
  • Installing and maintaining transformers, pole hardware, and other electrical equipment on the distribution network.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on power lines, including attending to emergencies and power outages.
  • Following strict safety protocols when working with high voltage electricity, including using appropriate protective gear.
  • Regularly inspecting power lines and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Using elevated work platforms, hydraulic drills, and other tools to access and work on power lines. 


Relevant skills and qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in electrical lineswork.
  • Holding the necessary electrical licenses required to work on high voltage systems in the relevant state or territory.
  • Understanding of electrical theory, power distribution systems, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
