Maintenance Engineer Jobs
A Maintenance Engineer in Australia is responsible for the upkeep and repair of industrial machinery and equipment within a facility, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting malfunctions, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, often specializing in either mechanical or electrical systems depending on the industry and company needs; requiring strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a good understanding of relevant engineering principles to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Performing scheduled inspections, lubrication, and adjustments on machinery to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Diagnosing equipment faults, identifying necessary repairs, and coordinating with technicians to quickly restore operational functionality.
- Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling components of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including repair details, spare parts used, and equipment performance data.
- Ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines related to maintenance practices.
- Assisting with installation, upgrades, and modifications to existing equipment.
- Identifying opportunities to reduce maintenance costs through preventative measures and efficient parts management
- Working with production teams, operators, and other engineers to identify and resolve equipment issues
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, electrical systems, and industrial automation
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to workplace safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
