Planner/ Scheduler Jobs
A Civil Planner/Scheduler in Australia is responsible for developing and managing detailed project timelines, resource allocation, and critical milestones for civil engineering projects, utilizing scheduling software to monitor progress, identify potential delays, and communicate effectively with project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities:
Project Planning:
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and scope of work to develop comprehensive project schedules using industry standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Break down project activities into manageable work packages and define dependencies between tasks.
- Estimate activity durations and resource requirements (labor, equipment, materials) based on project complexity and local conditions.
Schedule Management:
- Regularly monitor project progress against the schedule, identifying variances and potential risks.
- Proactively identify and address schedule conflicts, proposing mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines.
- Update and revise schedules as needed based on changing project conditions, including site constraints, weather impacts, and unforeseen issues.
Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources effectively across different project activities, considering labor availability, equipment capacity, and material delivery schedules.
- Optimize resource utilization to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare clear and concise project schedule reports, including critical path analysis, progress updates, and risk assessments.
- Communicate schedule changes and potential impacts to project stakeholders, including site supervisors, engineers, and project managers.
- Facilitate regular scheduling meetings to discuss progress, identify issues, and coordinate necessary actions.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of project schedules by performing quality checks and data validation.
- Adhere to company and industry standards for project planning and scheduling practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in project planning and scheduling within the civil construction industry.
- Expertise in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify potential problems and develop solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of construction methodologies, site logistics, and potential project risks
