Production Engineer Jobs

A Production Engineer in Australia is responsible for designing, optimizing, and overseeing manufacturing processes within a production facility, ensuring efficient operations, high quality output, and cost-effectiveness by managing equipment, workflow, and quality control, often collaborating with maintenance teams to identify and resolve production issues while striving to improve overall production efficiency and implement innovative solutions; typically requiring a relevant engineering degree and experience in industrial manufacturing environments. 


Key responsibilities may include:

  • Analyzing existing production processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements to increase output, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. 
  • Monitoring equipment performance, identifying potential issues, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring proper functionality of machinery. 
  • Establishing and enforcing quality standards, conducting inspections, and addressing quality concerns throughout the production process. 
  • Developing production schedules, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products. 
  • Analyzing production costs, identifying areas for cost reduction, and implementing cost-saving measures. 
  • Providing technical expertise to operations teams on production processes, equipment troubleshooting, and problem-solving. 
  • Leading and coordinating projects related to process improvement, equipment upgrades, or new product introduction. 
  • Collecting and analyzing production data to identify trends, monitor performance, and inform decision-making. 
  • Enforcing safety regulations and procedures within the production environment. 


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and principles
  • Experience with production planning and scheduling tools
  • Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and quality standards
