Cost planning: Develop detailed cost plans and budgets for different project stages, including feasibility studies, design development, and construction. 

Tender preparation: Prepare tender documents, including Bills of Quantities (BOQs), to facilitate accurate contractor bids. 

Contract administration: Review and negotiate contracts with contractors, ensuring compliance with contract terms and managing variations to the design. 

Progress monitoring: Regularly monitor project progress against the budget, identify cost variances, and implement corrective measures. 

Variation management: Assess the impact of design changes on costs, negotiate variations with contractors, and issue variation orders. 

Payment certification: Review contractor progress claims and certify payments based on work completed. 

Risk management: Identify potential cost risks throughout the project and develop mitigation strategies. 

Reporting: Provide regular cost reports to clients and project teams, highlighting key financial metrics and potential issues. 

Dispute resolution: Assist in resolving contractual disputes between parties involved in the project. 

Skills and qualifications for a Quantity Surveyor in Australia:
