A Roading Engineer in Australia is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of roads, highways, and related infrastructure. They ensure roads are safe, efficient, and meet regulatory standards while considering environmental and sustainability factors.



Key Responsibilities:

• Road Design & Planning: Develop road layouts, pavement structures, and drainage systems using engineering software.
• Construction & Supervision: Oversee road construction projects, ensuring compliance with Australian road standards.
• Maintenance & Rehabilitation: Assess existing roads and recommend repairs, upgrades, or resurfacing solutions.
• Traffic Management & Safety: Implement traffic flow analysis, road safety measures, and signage planning.
• Project Management: Coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
• Environmental & Sustainability Compliance: Incorporate sustainable materials and practices in road construction.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to Australian road design standards (e.g., Austroads guidelines).

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Austroads, RMS (NSW), TMR (QLD), or VicRoads road standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MX Road, and other road design software.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering, drainage design, and pavement structures.
• Experience in road safety audits and geometric road design.
• Project management and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Job Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience in road design, construction, or maintenance.
• Understanding of Australian road construction regulations.
• Familiarity with transport modeling software (e.g., SIDRA, VISSIM).
• Ability to conduct site visits and work in both office and field environments.
