Track Renewal Manager Jobs

A Track Renewal Manager in Australia is responsible for overseeing railway track renewal and maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Australian rail standards. This role involves managing project teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that rail infrastructure remains in optimal condition.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution: Develop and implement track renewal programs, ensuring minimal disruption to rail operations.
  • Team & Contractor Management: Supervise engineers, technicians, and contractors involved in track renewal projects.
  • Budget & Resource Allocation: Manage project budgets, resources, and procurement of materials such as rails, sleepers, and ballast.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to Australian railway safety regulations (e.g., Rail Safety National Law, ARTC Standards).
  • Quality Control: Monitor track conditions, conduct inspections, and ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with rail operators, government agencies, and project teams.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Technology & Innovation: Integrate modern rail technologies to improve track renewal efficiency.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of track construction, maintenance, and renewal techniques.
  • Familiarity with railway engineering standards in Australia (e.g., ARTC, Transport for NSW, VicTrack).
  • Experience in project management and contractor supervision.
  • Proficiency in rail design and planning software (e.g., Bentley Rail Track, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.


Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in railway track maintenance, renewal, or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of track geometry, rail welding, and ballast management.
  • Experience with major Australian rail projects (e.g., Inland Rail, Sydney Metro, Melbourne Metro).
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites when necessary.
