Field Surveyor Jobs
A Telecommunications Field Surveyor in Australia is responsible for conducting on-site surveys to gather data on existing infrastructure and potential new telecommunications network locations, identifying suitable routes for cable installation, mapping underground utilities, and documenting details to facilitate the design and construction of new telecommunications networks, often working outdoors in various weather conditions and across diverse terrains; requiring proficiency in surveying equipment, GIS software, and strong communication skills to liaise with landowners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Surveying:
- Conduct site surveys to identify optimal locations for new telecommunications towers, poles, and underground cable routes.
- Utilize surveying equipment like GPS, total stations, and underground utility locators to accurately measure distances, elevations, and existing infrastructure.
- Identify potential obstacles and environmental considerations during surveys.
- Record detailed field notes and data using digital mapping software.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Process collected field data using GIS software to create accurate digital maps and plans
- Generate detailed reports outlining survey findings, proposed routes, and potential challenges for construction teams
- Coordinate with design engineers to ensure proposed network infrastructure aligns with survey data
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate with landowners, property managers, and local authorities to obtain necessary permissions and address concerns regarding network installation
- Facilitate access to private property for survey activities
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and regulations while working in the field
- Ensure accurate documentation of survey activities and compliance with project specifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using surveying equipment like GPS units, total stations, and underground utility locators
