​How to Enter

To secure a role as a Superintendent, New Zealand employers will expect you to hold a relevant degree, such as a Bachelor of Engineering, and significant experience working on Civil Infrastructure development sites.


Typical Responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibilities for a Superintendent can include any of the following:


  • Review project plans and proposals and advise ways of saving costs and time
  • Preparing construction and development project schedules
  • Communicating project plan to onsite Labourers and contractors
  • Managing site personnel to ensure project runs to timeframes and budgets
  • Updating Project Managers, senior managers and clients of project progress or problems
  • Troubleshooting project problems and putting forward solutions
  • Ensure Health & Safety and regulatory standards are adhered to
  • Train and manage Labourers


Progression

For most Superintendents, the next logical step is to move towards senior management or Project Management, and eventually securing the position of Civil Construction Manager.


Salary Range

48K – 78K per annum (NZD)
