​How to Enter

Although specific qualifications in management isn’t necessary for securing a job as a Supervisor, it is recommended to have a high level of experience in your field of work, particularly within the Civil Construction or Engineering space. However, qualifications that provide leadership and supervisory skills will also be beneficial.


Typical Responsibilities

The typical responsibilities of a Supervisor can include all or some of the following:


  • Working with Architects and Civil Construction and Project Managers to plan work to be done
  • Supervising and conducting onsite work
  • Ensuring your team comply with company policy and Health & Safety procedures
  • Training new workers
  • Quality checking work completed and providing feedback and additional training where required


Progression

Following a few years’ experience, Supervisors can often progress their careers into further into Site and Construction Management. Alternatively, they can also choose to further specialise in their field and move into more senior roles.


Salary Range

40K – 72K per annum (NZD)
