We are seeking a qualified and experienced Boiler Maker to join the underground maintenance team at our copper and zinc smelting facility in Mount Isa, one of Australia’s most significant mining and processing hubs.
In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will carry out essential welding, fabrication, and repair work on boilers, pressure vessels, and structural components. You’ll be working in a high-performance underground operation, supporting the reliability of critical plant and equipment.
This is a permanent position with relocation support, offering long-term progression opportunities across site services and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, install, and maintain boilers, pressure vessels, and associated mechanical components
- Conduct welding, cutting, grinding, and fitting tasks using a range of materials and techniques
- Inspect, assess, and repair structural components to meet safety and operational standards
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, welding symbols, and engineering plans
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and maintain reliability
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company procedures
- Recognised Boiler Maker trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
- Previous experience in underground mining, heavy industrial, or smelter environments (preferred)
- Strong skills in welding, fabrication, and metal repair with a focus on pressure-rated components
- Ability to read and apply technical documentation and welding procedures
- Strong safety awareness, problem-solving skills, and a team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to relocate to Mount Isa – full relocation assistance and temporary accommodation provided
