RobLawMax Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Manager on behalf of a well-regarded aviation operator in Papua New Guinea. This respected company operates a modern, mixed turbine and jet fleet, providing charter, scheduled, medevac, cargo, and fly-in fly-out services across some of the most challenging and rewarding aviation environments in the world.
The Engineering Manager will lead the maintenance and engineering division, ensuring fleet safety, compliance, reliability, and performance while driving continuous improvement and maintaining strong alignment with regulatory and corporate standards.
Fleet Overview
The operator maintains a diverse and capable fleet to service both domestic and international operations, including DHC-6 Twin Otter's, Beechcraft King Air B200, Cessna Caravan C208's and a Cessna Citation CJ3. This varied fleet supports passenger services, logistics, and remote operations throughout PNG and neighbouring regions, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all maintenance and engineering operations under CASA PNG Part 145 requirements.
- Oversee a skilled team of licensed engineers, planners, and technical staff to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance programs, policies, and engineering standards aligned with strategic and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure continuous compliance with safety, airworthiness, and quality-assurance systems.
- Manage budgets, procurement, and resource allocation to achieve cost-efficient performance.
- Collaborate with Flight Operations, Quality Assurance, and Safety to maintain seamless operational integration.
- Represent the organisation in dealings with regulatory authorities, OEMs, and MRO partners.
- Mentor, coach, and develop staff to build a high-performing and safety-driven engineering culture.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse technical teams.
- Strong working knowledge of aviation maintenance practices and regulatory frameworks.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate goals into operational outcomes.
- Financial and commercial acumen, with strengths in budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent communicator with sound decision-making and stakeholder management skills.
- Uncompromising commitment to safety, integrity, and operational excellence.
- Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence (B1/B2, or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years' aviation maintenance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or managerial role.
- Experience working with mixed turbine and jet fleets in remote or high-complexity environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of Parts 125, 135, and 145 operations.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with CASA PNG or equivalent aviation regulators.
- Experience in technical, budgetary, and compliance leadership within a certified maintenance organisation.
