About the Company:
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our underground copper and zinc smelting operation in Mount Isa. This is a rare opportunity to work in a demanding industrial environment, performing critical maintenance and repairs on heavy mobile equipment essential to smelter productivity and safety.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our heavy earthmoving equipment across the mining operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of heavy mobile equipment (e.g., loaders, trucks, drills, graders, and excavators).
- Perform fault finding and troubleshooting to minimise equipment downtime.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs as required.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records and report equipment condition.
- Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and other trades to ensure operational efficiency.
- Australian recognised Trade Qualification – Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Mobile Plant Mechanic.
- Previous experience working on mining or heavy industrial mobile plant equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability across a range of OEM equipment (e.g., CAT, Komatsu, Sandvik, Epiroc).
- Sound understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with site policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team and under minimal supervision.
- Experience with underground mining equipment (desirable but not essential).
