The project is large scale new build roading project I which will help to redefine a key section of infrastructure in NZ. With a construction timeline of nearly 2 years remaining on this project, this is a massive project in scale with the volume of earthworks and structures needed almost unprecedented in NZ. The contractors involved are the best in the business and are now looking to cement key positions in their field teams by adding a highly experienced Commercial Manager to close out the final 20-24 months of the project
We are seeking applications from Commercial Managers with an established track record in large civil infrastructure projects such as roading, highways, bridges, as well as experience in working for one of the Tier 1 contractors. Project experience from negotiation and design phase through to post construction reporting, including tendering and sub-contractor engagement is a major part of the role. Working on projects with values of over $100m is ideal.
You will provide day to day commercial support on construction projects and to Project Managers on project control, variations and commercial considerations of managing projects; lead contract planning, procurement, negotiations and compilation as well as provide commercial input into business development on bids and tenders.
As a Commercial Manager you will have the following skills and attributes:
Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, finance, engineering/construction or project management
10+ years commercial experience within large civil infrastructure projects
Excellent communication and forward planning skills
Proven experience in contractual administration, negotiation ,estimating, cost control, legal and risk analysis
Experience in post-contract completion reviews, analysis of results and undertaking of corrective actions.
Experience in interpreting the tender and applying the commercial and contractual agreement both at Head Contract and Sub Contract levels
Literacy in excel and scheduling software (ideally Primavera P6 or similar)
Financially and commercially astute
Strong knowledge of bid analysis and negotiation
Ability to prioritise work load and perform under tight time constraints
