​This is one of our favourite clients who are a specialist Civil Construction Co. who look after their people and are called in when the work is technical and complicated. They have an opportunity for a skilled influencer with fantastic people skills, a thorough knowledge of HSEQ and of Human Resources.

As implied, the company has a flat structure and do not want a department for every category of management. So, you’ll fit in at leadership level here if you’re broadly skilled and enjoy bringing an “I’ll do whatever it takes” attitude. Having said that we’re talking a workforce of over 100 plus sub-contractors so this is fully a medium sized enterprise. The opportunity of the role is that you’ll be able to walk and work with all staff through all caring/pastoral aspects of their employment and build relationships that will develop company culture. When they’re being inducted, when they’re being promoted and getting pay rises and, perish the thought- if they ever get injured or a discipline incident crops up, you’ll be beside them.

You will be managing several support and admin staff who will help you with paperwork and systems so that you can be out and about and engaged with the workforce. You’ll manage the HR and HSEQ documentation structure supporting the business and be a key part of building an employment culture that’s safe, productive and pushes staff to better themselves. You’ll be reporting internally and externally for the Co. in terms of HSEQ plus doing investigations where something’s gone wrong. You’ll work with people’s training needs and career progress steps and you’ll also be often seen on site – at toolbox talks, reviewing safe work plans and supporting project site-staff to plan and act safety on the ground, in the ground and even under the ground.
