A leading fabrication and manufacturing company based in West Auckland is looking to hire an experienced Production Planner. This is a newly created position due to an increase in workload, the company is a market leader in their sector with a low staff turnover, terrific culture and a strong reputation with customers across New Zealand. This opportunity is focussed on workshop and production resource and supply chain planning, experience of working on these aspects of a production or manufacturing environment is essential. Experience of working in New Zealand is ESSENTIAL.

The salary for this position is dependent on experience, but will be in the region of $70-80k.

The position will see the Production Planner working with internal Project Managers to develop project specific programmes for the detailing, fabrication and site erection of structural steel element of projects. This involves developing a programme based on a client supplied schedules and planning internal resources in shop drawings / detailing, workshop and site. Lead-in times can sometimes be as far out as two years, and projects can sometimes take up to two years to complete - so procurement knowledge is key to success in the role.

The company often runs up to 35 projects at a time, which are combined into a master production programme. The Production Planner will compile and provide weekly for the Production and Procurement Team so they can manage work flows to meet agreed programme milestones. The job holder will be monitoring, managing and updating progress on all current and upcoming projects so that external supply chain, third party products and other out sourced products and services are scheduled correctly.

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must have the following skills and experience:

  • Production planning / programming experience, ideally in a heavy fabrication environment or large scale manufacturing environment gained in New Zealand

  • Proficient in MS Project, or experience with other programming / production planning tools

  • Strong and confident communication abilities

  • Commercial construction experience is desirable but not essential

  • Ability to work with many internal and external stakeholders

  • Candidates must have a motivated and team player attitude

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Ability to meet weekly deadlines

  • Solve problem and delay issues efficiently
