This market leader in the window coverings sector (blinds and shutters) is looking to hire a Sales Consultant / Installer into the business, due to continued growth and success with residential, commercial and industrial customers.

The area covered in the position will be the Bay of Plenty. An area of huge growth and development, there are some fantastic opportunities to be capitalised upon. The job involves quoting, accurate measurements, giving sound advice (both practical and style based) to customers in order to sell and install the products. Applicants must be good communicators, competent at measuring and quoting, and able to use basic power tools for installation. Lots of warm leads but cold calling is a part of the role. It is up to the job holder to organise their own time, working to ensure timely quotation and installation through liaison with the production team in the factory.

The position has two employment options: entirely commission based as a contractor, or as an employee. The contractor option has higher potential earnings but no base salary, the employee option has a good base but with slightly lower earning potential. It is entirely feasible to switch from employee to contractor once the sales and customer pipeline has been built up and developed, but this will ultimately be at the discretion of the company.

The position could suit someone who has come from the building or construction trade with practical skills who is looking to be in a more people facing position, or someone from a design based discipline or customer service based role, who is looking for a hands-on position. Or indeed anyone who has the desire to earn good money in a growth area, as long as practical power tools experience and strong communication skills are evident.

  • Personable, enjoys meeting new people

  • Proactive and hungry in terms of closing sales

  • Willing to learn a new product range, if you’re new to shutters and blinds

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
