The System Engineer is responsible for analysing and developing appropriate strategies to reduce the risk of service failure and ensures assets remain reliable, maintainable and available for use. The Systems Engineer ensures reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) data's collected and analysed, the cause of incidents / issues are identified, required design modifications are managed, and ensures the performance of products and systems are achieved within the appropriate level.
Essential in this role will be the ability to develop positive relationships across the business to ensure the efficient and effective establishing and implementing of systems and/or processes within the company.
Manage Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System on both the EMU and Carriage fleets to ensure that fleet reliability and safety issues are reduced to an acceptable level
Manage the Engineering Change Process to ensure that modifications to the fleet and technical maintenance plan are carried out according to procedure and to the satisfaction of relevant stakeholders
Chair and otherwise lead Engineering Team meetings to ensure that adequate actions are taken in the execution of fleet reliability and safety solutions
Act as the primary point of contact within the Engineering Team for client requests or queries and ensure that they are actioned upon in a timely manner
Maintain and revise as needed the Engineering/RAMS processes & instructions such as FRACAS, Warranty, RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance)
Ensure all applicable standards, certifications, regulations, and customer requirements are appropriately integrated into engineering processes and procedures
Report performance against the business KPIs to the client on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in accordance with contractual requirements
Lead attribution process for service affecting failures; investigating each attributed failure in detail to determine whether client shall suffer a performance deduction and proceeding with disputes as required
Perform train system FMECA (Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis) and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) in coordination with the Engineering team
Project manage heavy maintenance or modification works
Perform regular audits according to Engineering/RAMS processes & instructions
Communicate with headquarters as required in relation to system engineering
Undertake other tasks and projects as might be assigned from time to time
Knowledge and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification (Engineering related)
More than three years’ experience in an engineering maintenance environment with a sound understanding of maintenance processes and techniques.
Significant knowledge and experience associated with developing information data, undertaking analysis and interpretation for maintenance planning and management purposes.
Familiarity with project management principles
Advanced knowledge of RAMS especially FRACA System
Advanced Engineering Document (Processes & Instructions) and report writing capability
Expertise in analysing, evaluating and problem solving, risks and obstacles (a lateral thinker)
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Stakeholder management experience
